Should your product culture optimise for speed or care? We think that’s the wrong question.
Silicon Valley speed — met with Scandinavian respect for people, trust and wellbeing.
A false choice — and we’ve seen the alternative.
There’s a prevailing idea that you have to choose: either move fast, experiment hard, and disrupt with force — or build on consensus, protect wellbeing, and keep everyone on board.
We think that’s a false choice. The strongest product cultures we’ve seen do both. Silicon Valley pace and Scandinavian trust don’t cancel each other out — they reinforce each other. That’s what McKay Consulting is built on.
Michael McKay
Throughout my career I’ve worked inside some of the world’s most ambitious organisations — PayPal, Amazon, Nokia, LEGO, Novo Nordisk — across product design and innovation at every level: from hands-on development to strategy, organisational change and transformation leadership. I’ve built and led teams and departments across industries.
Over the past 15 years I’ve moved between senior leadership roles inside organisations undergoing major change, and building my own consulting and advisory practice. With me you get a corporate-seasoned leader with strong, battle-tested methods for radical change from within.
Over time I’ve become increasingly focused on one question: how do we build cultures that genuinely value and accelerate human talent — so we can create the solutions that matter most right now? That pragmatism and that vision is what drives me, and what drives McKay Consulting.
